Obituary

Albert L. Falsetta, 86, of Hancock, NY, died on Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016 at Wilson Medical Center in Johnson City, NY. He was born on November 23rd, 1929 in Queens, NY the son of Albert and Frances (Herzog) Falsetta.Al grew up in Richmond Hill, NY and proudly served his country as part of the US Navy from 1948 through 1955. Upon his Honorable Discharge Al returned to Richmond Hill where he met Harriet Krumm. The happy couple were married on September 7, 1952 in Richmond Hill and remained happily married for 63 years. Al and Harriet lived in Ozone Park, Far Rockaway, and then retired in Starlight, PA in 1987.Al was a professional mechanic for most of his career working at Republic Aviation, American Motors, His brother-in-law's mechanic shop, and Pan American World Airways as a jet engine mechanic. He retired from Pan Am but Al continued to use his skills to help many people by working part-time at Jolly Pines Auto in Equinunk, PA and Napa Auto Parts in Hancock, NY. Al was always available to help a family member or friend and truly enjoyed being of assistance to anyone in engine repair.Surviving Al are his wife of 63 years, Harriet; his three children Albert and wife Donna, Alice and husband Mark Muratore; and Andrew and wife Phyllis. Al was the proud Grandfather of 7 grandchildren including Andrew, Megan, Brian, Brandon, Angela, Melissa, and Christopher. Al was also blessed to have 7 great grandchildren. Al is also survived by his sister Anita Borzym.Al was an active father and spent many happy hours teaching his kids new things. Al became a Boy Scout Leader and took great pride in providing guidance and leadership to the scouts he was responsible for. Even when Al wasn't at work, his love for engines, cars, and racing occupied much of his time. Al taught his kids how to build slot cars. Once completed, they took their slot cars throughout New York and Pennsylvania to compete in races with other enthusiasts. Al also really enjoyed watching and attending stock car race cars and motorcycles. Al enjoyed spending time taking their kids to the beach in Far Rockaway, NY from Beach 3rd to Beach 9th; as well as the pier. Al was an active member of the community in Starlight and Hancock. He had many friends and truly enjoyed spending time with them, even if it was just sitting around enjoying a beer while fixing a lawn mower engine. Calling hours for Al will be held on Friday, August 5th, 2016 from 5-7pm at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel on Main Street in Hancock, NY. His funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6th, 2016 at 11 am, also at the funeral chapel. Interment will follow in Balls Eddy Cemetery in Starlight, PA.Al and his family have requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Al's memory to the Town of Hancock Ambulance, P.O.
