Sampson
August 19, 1938 – December 16, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother and grandmother, Alice Mae (Stephens) Sampson on Monday, December 16, 2024, after a happy and beautifully lived life of 86 years. She was born on August 19, 1938 in Carbondale, PA, the daughter of Clayton and Dorothy Stephens.
Alice attended and graduated from Preston School in Lakewood, PA, where she met Thomas Sampson Sr. They were married for 64 years before his passing on February 12, 2023. She and Tom worked their entire lives as dairy farmers in Pleasant Mount, PA, until their retirement in 2002.
Alice was full of love, laughter, and kindness and she was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and crocheting. She touched many lives supporting the community through the Lakewood Fire Co., the Lake Como United Methodist Church, and the Forest City Nursing Home, where she has been well loved for the last several years. Alice was the Inspector of Elections for Preston Township, which she enjoyed, for many years.
Surviving are 3 children: Tom Jr., Mark, and Beverly; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren; sister, Judy Stimik, brother in law, Wendell Sampson; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends who felt her love and generosity. Alice was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Sr.; 2 daughters, Doreen and Gloria; 2 grandsons, Thomas Sampson and Samuel Rowe III, and 2 brothers, John Stephens and Clayton Stephens Jr.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 22, 2024 from 1PM-3PM with a funeral service following at 3PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Interment will be in Starrucca Cemetery in the spring, 2025.
Memorial donations can be made in Alice's memory to the Northern Wayne Fire Co., 1633 Crosstown Highway, Lakewood, PA, 18439 or to the Lake Como United Methodist Church, ℅ Darlene Burnett, 765 Rock Lake Dr., Lakewood, PA 18439.
