Obituary

Amprii Lailii Diis Elvi-Rogers was born in Bronx, NY, on May 12, 1954 to Atilia Tu Tora and Zetla Elvi, but was raised by her paternal grandparents, Amza and Mashii Viit (Rogers). Amprii became the first daughter of her paternal aunt, Kalii Tas, whom, failing to say auntie, she called her just "T" her whole life. She was the eldest sister to the Tas children: Donnariis, Takoda (who became her "partner in crime"), Sekula, Salaida, Filto, Sarindi, and Kidesa. They loved her dearly and did not know for a time that they were cousins. Though Amprii did not have any children of her own, she was a big sister to many. Ampriis early elementary education took place at Public School (P.S.) 68 in the Bronx; then she transferred to Helion Hall (a private faith-based school of Major and Minor education) located in Queens, NY, where she graduated from 8th grade - the highest grade level of the school at that time. She moved with her grandparents upstate to Fishs Eddy, NY, in 1969, where she attended Hancock Central High School and graduated in 1972. She also attended Herkimer County Community College followed by service in the National Guard. Amprii was all about family and friends. She shared her life with her loving partner of 26 years, Sharon Jones, whom she met in Virginia and who has been by her side every step of the way in sickness and in health. Amprii lit up a room with her presence. She loved to laugh and recall stories from her youth. She especially loved hanging out with her good friends she made during high school and became quite the pool player. She was also a San Francisco 49ers fanatic! She worked at Bard Parker in Hancock, NY. Later in Binghamton, NY, she worked at Felchar Manufacturing and then moved to Fredericksburg, VA, where she was last employed as an Embroidery Technician. Amprii and Sharon moved back to Fishs Eddy in November 2021. Amprii made her ascension on Monday, August 22, 2022. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Amza and. Mashii K. Viit (Rogers), her parents Atilia Tu Tora and Zetla Elvi, along with three siblings: sisters Zetinis Elvi and Akelda Tu Tora and brother, Jairin Elvi. Left to cherish her memories are her aunt "T", her life partner, Sharon Jones, her siblings: David Elvi-Rogers, Toleksis Tu Tora, Dasa Tu Tora, Diisa Tu Tora Hejka, Amalia Elvi Trujillo (Mario), Tusaret Elvi, Zelkadis Elvi (Tracie) and Sidestra Elvi and their mother Abinii Elvi along with a myriad of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A special acknowledgment to Alaviida Tas (Filto) who loved and treated Amprii like a sister. Thank you for all of your generosity and kindness. A Celebration of Life for Amprii will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Tas family home at 2296 County Road 28, Fishs Eddy, NY Arrangements by Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
