Obituary

On May 23, 2015, Ann (Anna Mae) Possemato died peacefully at home. She was born to the late Camiel and Anna Mae VanderVoort on June 6, 1929 in Paterson, NJ. She was married for 48 wonderful years to the late Ralph Rocco Possemato.Ann is survived by her daughter Deborah (Stephen) Griesinger of Toano, VA and sons Ralph (Dawne Karcher) of Hancock and Harvey (Angela Rillo) of Rochester, NY. She is also survived by her brother, Edward (Mary Vetrone) VanderVoort of Richfield Springs, NY, sister-in-law Florence Vitale, and brothers-in-law Frank Possemato and Rocco Possemato.Ann was blessed with five beautiful granddaughters: Meegan Possemato, Camiel (Griesinger) and Andrew Sims, Shanley (Possemato) and Brendan O'Donnell, Laurie (Griesinger) and Jon Ewing, Anna Mae Kyle (Possemato) and Casey Ritz; eight great-grandchildren: Joseph and Joshua Sims, Hannah, Natalie and Mason Ewing, Leo and Eliza Ritz, and Owen O'Donnell; many loving family members, including nieces and nephews; long-time friends; and her faithful dog, Bubbles.Besides her husband and parents, Ann was predeceased by her brother, Camiel VanderVoort (Gray Medlin). Ann graduated from Hancock Central School and Katherine Gibbs School in Boston and worked as a bus driver for Hancock Central School for many years. Later on, she earned her real estate license and worked as a realtor. She was also a member of the Village of Hancock Planning Board and the Hancock Rescue Squad.Ann enjoyed long walks with her husband and dog, creative writing, playing the piano and singing, especially musicals and operas at the kitchen table. She was full of imagination and energy, often entertaining her granddaughters with silly stories that are being passed on to the next generation. Ann also enjoyed visiting with and sharing ice cream with her special niece and Goddaughter, Kathy Schoch. Ann will always be remembered for her kind, friendly and empathetic nature. She truly had a way of making everyone she met feel loved and special.Calling hours will be at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel in Hancock, NY from 6:00-8:30 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 11:30 am at St. Paul's Church in Hancock. This will be followed by a burial service at St. Paul's Cemetery in Hancock.Arrangements by Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
