Obituary

Anthony "Tony" Giordano answered his last call on Monday, January 17th, 2022, after an arduous battle with cancer. Tony was born in Manhattan in 1948, raised in the Bronx, placed roots in Hancock, NY. Tony lived a life dedicated to service in his community and to others. Tony actively served 4 years in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and 44 years with the Hancock Fire Department, during which he responded to an immeasurable number of calls, including 9/11, and served as chief. The family had a saying, "If Tony/Poppi couldnt fix it, it couldnt be fixed." Tonys career was built at various locations including Norbord, NYSEG, Don Oralls garage, and his own business. Tony had a love for motorcycles, computers, NASCAR and his wifes baking. Tony is predeceased by his wife, Shari Giordano, his brother, Stephen Giordano, and his parents Mario & Rose Marie Giordano and his great niece MaKayla Giordano. Tony is survived by his five children: James Giordano, Jennifer Giordano, Jasmyn Giordano (Eric Bishop), Jalea Drake (Warren Drake) and Janee Giordano (Zach Wignall). He is also survived by his nephews, Joshua and Joseph Giordano, niece, Crystal Cruz, his sister-in-law Vikki VanAtta and sisters, Roseanne "Cookie" Giordano, Theresa Cruz, and Marilyn Pacheco. While the community and family were center of Tonys life, none so much as his grandchildren: Vincent, Nicholas and Sophia Giordano, Ivy Giordano, Alana and Amara Bishop, Adrianna Schwartz and Alexandria Drake, Chanel and Bentley Wignall and his great grandson Gage Illing. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 28, 2022 from 4PM-7PM at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Calling hours will also be held on Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 11AM-1PM followed by a funeral service at 1PM, all at the Hancock Fire Department, 24501 State Hwy 97, Hancock, NY, 13783, with a luncheon held thereafter. Interment will be in the spring in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hancock Fire Department, P.O. Box 883, Hancock, NY 13783.
