Obituary

Anthony Worobey, 80, of Preston Park, PA, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2019, at Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY, after a short illness. He was born on February 2, 1939 in Thompson, PA, the son of Anthony and Barbara (Stets) Worobey. Tony married Nancy Roney on February 22, 1958 in Lake Como, PA. Tony was a genuine, caring man who had a heart of gold. He had the utmost admiration for his wife, Nancy, and often said how he "put her on a pedestal." Tony was a dedicated father to his children. He taught them the importance of honesty, integrity and moral values. Tony was always available to help Nancy, his children, or a friend if called upon. Tony was a hard-working man. He operated his dairy farm for 39 years. As the children got older, they worked along-side their father, learning all he had to teach. Tony supported his children in all their endeavors, 4-H, sports and college to name a few. Tony enjoyed polka dancing. He was so light on his feet that Nancy grew accustomed to sharing him at dances. Tony also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. Not only was he a good player, he had quite a sense of humor. He passed along his wit and teasing ways to both his children and grandchildren. Tony was an avid hunter and fisherman. After he wasnt able to hunt, he enjoyed watching the variety of wildlife that wandered through his yard each day. Taking rides on his Kubota, a surprise gift from Nancy, was one of Tonys favorite things to do. Tony looked forward to the daily phone calls from his son Tom with updates on his farm. His days were brightened by daily visits from children Scott, Brian and Jessica along with his grandchildren. The occasions when Tony had all his children back home were very special to him. Surviving are his wife, Nancy, 6 children, Scott Worobey (Michele Popovich), Thomas (Amy) Worobey, Julie (Richard) Kidd, Brian (Ashley) Worobey, Jason Worobey (Brandon Chase), and Jessica (Bill) Arrigan, 14 grandchildren, Samuel, Zachary, Emma, Thomas, Luke, Margaret, Samantha, Parker, Anthony, Nicholas, Willa, Jack, James, and Weslyn, and 4 great grandchildren, Carter, Callie, Caleb, and Maxon. He is also survived by 1 sister, Helen (Robert) Carangelo, 2 sister in laws, Nancy and Elizabeth Holowonich, and several nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by 3 brothers, William and Michael Holowonich, and John Worobey, and 2 sisters, Anna Babich and Mary Pandich.
