Obituary

Arlyene Meyer Lusk, 71, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, June 2, 2016. Arlyene was a native of Long Eddy, NY and a Yorktown resident since 1980. She was employed as a contractor at NASA for over 30 years most recently as an IT project manager, and she was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Arlyene, the first born daughter of Vernon and Nena Meyer, was a thoughtful and protective wife to her husband, Dick and a loving and caring mother to her children Lisa and Richard. Above all, she was an intensely devoted grandmother who took tremendous joy through being active in the lives of her precious grandchildren, Blakely and Logan. She was known for her soft-spoken manner, her warm sense of humor, and her enormous generosity. Her passions in life were taking care of her cat Ashlee, painting, traveling with her friends, and spending time at the beach with her beloved family. Arlyene was deeply adored and greatly admired, and her absence will leave a hole in the hearts of many. Arlyene is survived by her husband of 52 years Richard "Dick" Lusk, Lt. Col., USAF, Ret.; a daughter, Lisa Lusk Coughenour and her husband Rick of Yorktown; a son, Richard Vernon Lusk and his fiance Toni Schiavon of Hayes; two grandchildren, Blakely Anne Gianna Coughenour and Logan Tyler Coughenour; two sisters, Nancy Hillriegel and her husband Phil, and Darlene Farley; and three brothers, Vernon Meyer and his wife Patricia, Vincent Meyer and his wife Lee, and Bradford Meyer and his wife Holly.She is also survived by numerous loved nieces and nephews including nephew Phillip and his wife Cathy and their children Thomas and son Colton, Timothy, Tyler, and Taylor; nephew Brian and his wife Jeannie and their son Mike; niece Dina Engle and her son Billy; nephew Jonathan Meyer and his wife Lori and their children Ben and Rachel; nephew Matthew Meyer and his wife Melinda; niece Debbie Shea and her husband Thomas and her daughter Deanna; niece Stacey Snedeker and her husband Kevin and their son Finley; nephew Chad Meyer, and niece Sylvia Galligan and her husband Patrick. Lastly, she is survived by many aunts and cousins who will miss her dearly. She was preceded in death by her father and mother Vernon and Nena Meyer and niece Grace Hillriegel. On Saturday, June 18th 2016 at St. Patrick's Church, Long Eddy, there will be a funeral mass starting at 11:00. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Arlyene's burial will be at the Meyer Family Cemetery in Long Eddy, New York.Arlyene was a strong believer in the importance of Catholic Education.
