Arthur (Artie) Earl Tompkins was called home on Sunday morning August 14th 2022. He was born March 28th 1946 to Paul and Iona (McUmber) Tompkins in Callicoon ,N.Y. Art enlisted in the United States Army in 1963-1968, his title was machine operator, he receive badges for sharpshooter ( rifle M-14), marksman (rifle M-14) and a good conduct award, upon returning he worked at Celotex in Deposit, N.Y., He drove a stone truck for Tompkins Bluestone, Bard-Parker where he was a technician and molding setup till, he took an early retirement. He owned and operated Tompkins Hunting & Logging, where his son worked alongside him till, he retired in 2005. Art had a great love for horses, he showed, and barrel raced for many years taking home several trophies and ribbons, he was an avid hunter and was a member of several clubs. Art loved his mountain where he lived, worked, and played. Art enjoyed spending time with his hunting club family. Art leaves behind his companion Maryln Pease at home, two daughters Mitzi (Thomas) Buchholz of Horton, N.Y. Nicole (Shaun) Green of Centerville, N.Y. and one son Lewis Tompkins of Fishs Eddy, N.Y., several nieces, nephews, and extended family. Six grandchildren Alexis, Brittney & Taylor Keesler, Gwendolyn Lobdell and husband, Bradley, and Vanessa & Ethan Tompkins Four Great grandchildren Aidan Seiblies, Landon, Alexander, & Kensley One great grandson on the way. Art was predeceased by his parents, a sister and brother in-law Dixie (Ray) Ronk and first wife and mother of his children Brenda Ostrander. Art will be missed by not only his family but the countless friends he had. Calling hours will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022 from 10AM-1PM with a funeral service following at 1PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
