Blaine A. Houck, 75, of Houck Mountain, East Branch, NY, died unexpectedly on Friday, May 23, 2014 at home. He was born on October 13, 1938 in Walton, NY, the son of Devillo and Jessie (Kilmer) Houck. Blaine loved Houck Mountain with a lifelong passion and loved being in the woods. He had a spiritual connection with Houck Mountain, nature, animals, and feeding wildlife. Blaine enjoyed brooks and stream fishing, wood stove heating, country western music, and his family, Houck/Kilmer, heritage. Surviving are 1 son, Blaine W. Houck, 10 grandchildren, 8 siblings, Elaine and husband Benjamin Perkus, Diane and husband Tom Boyle, David and significant other, Diane Wheeler, Bob Houck, Dana Houck, Belle Newheart and husband Bob Butz, LeLand Houck and significant other, Roberta Pietrosanti, and Gay Wood and significant other, Frank Bogdanski. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and several aunts. Blaine was predeceased by 1 son, Lenny A. Houck, 2 daughters, Cindy M. Bronson and Sally A. Heisler, and special friends, Ted and Edith Benedict. A special thanks goes to his loved neighbors on Houck Mountain, especially Pete and Alice. A graveside service will be held at Blaine's residence, 2914 Houck Mountain Rd., East Branch, NY 13756, on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at 1PM with Rev. Renee Guidelli officiating.
