Blanche Anne Hertz Spielman died peacefully on Tuesday, February 24, 2015, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Margot and Arthur Spangenberg, Preston Park, PA. Born Jan 28, 1913 in Brooklyn, NY, she married Charles Spielman, a New York City Firefighter in 1939. She lived, and worked as a bookkeeper, both in Brooklyn and Manhattan until she retired at age 88 and moved to Preston Park. For many years her summers were spent at the Spielman family home in Ararat, PA. One of the ten clever and talented children of Morris and Anna Hertz she was deeply involved with her entire extended family. Blanche is survived by her daughter Margot Spielman Spangenberg, her son-in-law Arthur Spangenberg and her beloved granddaughter Amy Leigh Spangenberg. She is also survived by her beloved nephews, Richard Hertz, Michael Hertz, Larry Hoffner, Peter Hertz, Arthur Gresen, and Michael Greenhous, nieces, Barbara Helfand, Margot Greene, Elinor Haberman, Susan Gewirtz, Judy Muller, and Elisa Huttner, many grand nieces and nephews, and her devoted caregiver Astrid Caiati. A graveside service will be held at Beth David Cemetery, Elmont, NY, on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 11AM.Arrangements by Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock, NY.
