Carla Jean Morgan, 65, of Hancock, NY, died on Monday, July 26, 2019 at home, after an illness. She was born on December 23, 1953 in Rome, NY, the daughter of Carl and Millie (Stanton) Morgan. In her early years, Carla Jean attended Orange County Community College and Broome Community College for Criminal Justice. Her true love was for children and she mothered many over the years. Carla was one who always made a friend wherever she went. She was always friendly and outgoing. She found good in everyone and never was one to judge. Surviving are 2 sons, Patrick (Kim) Simmons and Howard "Billy" (Nicole) Shaffer, 12 grandchildren, Carly, Morgan Jr., James, Sophia, Cameron, Payton, Seth, Josiah, Ella, Maretta, Micah, and Elisha, and daughter in law, Cassandra Shaffer. She is also survived by 4 siblings, Deana J. Stevenson, Carl E. Morgan Jr., Scott Morgan, and Jennifer Morgan, 2 uncles, Bob and Gene Morgan, many nieces and nephews, and 3 cousins, Patty, Vanessa, and Kenny. Carla Jean was predeceased by 2 sons, Paul Simmons and Morgan L. Shaffer, her parents, Carl and Heidi Morgan and Millie and Paul Thurston, and 2 brothers, Thomas Sampson and Kevin Morgan. There will be a graveside service on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 1PM in Riverview Cemetery followed by a Celebration of Carlas life at Firemans Park from 2PM-5PM.
