David G. Herzog born December 18th, 1946 to Frank and Reva (Gardner) Herzog, went Home to be with his Lord on November 3rd, 2021. David was a devoted husband to his wife, Josephine for almost 54 years. He was a loving father to his children Ricky Sr. and Christine, and a wonderful grandfather to his grandchildren Sabrina, Ricky Jr., Adam, Julia, Andrew, Stephanie, and Davis. David loved being with his family playing games, telling stories, and sharing the source of his faith, the salvation of Jesus. He would often be heard saying "It is well with my soul" and he meant those words. It was his family that brought him the greatest joy. The memories created for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will be forever cherished. Whether it was inventing stories while drawing pictures, building tools from sticks and stones, or any other number of treasured moments, David was an involved and loving grandfather. David was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, where he served proudly and fought with honor during the Vietnam War. David loved to spend time fishing, exploring nature (especially when he was metal detecting), and woodworking. There are many treasured pieces handcrafted by David around. Surviving are his wife, Josie; 2 children: Ricky (Kathi), and Christine (Peter) Manley; 7 grandchildren: Sabrina (Tim) Kenyon, Ricky Jr., Adam Manley, Julia Manley, Andrew (Sabine) Doerr, Stephanie (Paul) Cordner, and Davis Herzog; 3 great grandchildren: Jocelyn and Melody Kenyon, and Carter Cordner; 2 sisters, Connie Henson and Judy Jones; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. David was predeceased by his mother and father, 4 brothers, and 3 sisters. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 from 11AM-1PM with a funeral service following at 1PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
