Donald (Don) E. Fritz, age 78 of Hancock, NY passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the DuBois, Pa Nursing Home after a long illness.

The son of the late Raymond and Jane (Botsford) Fritz was born on May 26, 1946. Don graduated from Hancock Central School in 1964.

Don married the love of his life, Christine (Grot) in 1981. She preceded him in death on December 3, 2009.

Don was a retired land surveyor and in his early years he operated a local pizzeria, The Stage Door in his hometown, Hancock, NY.

He enjoyed golf, horse races, going to rodeos, bluegrass music and bingo. He even participated in rodeo barrel races. Don helped many relatives and friends enter the surveying field. He always enjoyed when family and friends visited him over the years.

He is survived by his brother, Steve Fritz, sister and brother-in-law, Sandra (Grot) Raja Gopalan, his uncle Neil and aunt Louise Botsford, several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Emory United Methodist Church, Hancock, NY. Graveside burial will follow at the Riverview Cemetery, Hancock, NY. There will be a luncheon to welcome family and friends at the Hancock Golf Course. The golf course will be open for anyone wishing to play a round of golf in Don's honor.
