Donald F. "Butch" Milk, passed away peacefully after a short illness on January 13, 2026, at the Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Home. Born on September 29, 1944 in Hancock, NY. Butch was the beloved son of the late Donald and Grace (Peake) Milk. His childhood was spent on the family farm in Long Eddy, where he developed a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors. Eventually, Butch moved to Hancock, NY, where he spent the majority of his life.
Butch was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent much of his time outdoors, particularly enjoying his work at the stone quarry, hunting and harvesting ginseng. Butch loved being in the woods, where he felt at peace and connected with nature.
His passion for antiquing led him to collect numerous treasures over the years, each piece reflecting his appreciation for history and craftsmanship. Known for his warm spirit, Butch cherished his community and often spent time visiting friends at McDonald's, sharing a cup of coffee, or offering a helping hand to those in need.
Beyond his interests and work, Butch was deeply rooted in his faith. He was a devout man of God and was honored to say grace at all family gatherings, bringing everyone together through his humble prayers.
Butch was predeceased by his parents and three brothers: Allan, Clinton, and David. He is survived by his siblings: Aloma (Bill) McElwee of Ithaca, Lucian Milk of Long Eddy, Lucinda Mootz of Callicoon Center, Sharon Cormier of Cochecton, Telford (Nancy) Milk of Hancock, Aleta (Tom) Mason and Andrea Milk of Long Eddy, along with several cherished nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Butch will be fondly remembered for his kindness, dedication, and unwavering faith. He leaves behind a legacy of love and generosity that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 12PM-3PM with a funeral service following at 3PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Burial will be in the spring. A luncheon will follow the funeral services at the American Legion Hall, Hancock, NY,
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Allan Milk VFW Post 7276, c/o Commander Lauren Roman 131 Graby Rd., Callicoon, NY 12723.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to UHS Wilson Hospital, the Delhi Rehabilitation Center and Nursing Home, and Suzette for their compassionate care and support of Butch during the past few months. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
