Obituary

Doris "Ramona" Cook Moretz, 89, of Scottsdale, Arizona, beloved mother and grandmother, peacefully passed into the loving arms of Jesus on February 19, 2017. Born February 2, 1928, in Hancock, NY, Ramona was the younger daughter of Raymond and Dorothy (Sands) Cook. She moved to Scottsdale, AZ, from Bainbridge, NY, with her husband and children in 1965. Ramona was a devoted wife and mother, a gifted homemaker, and was always happily serving others. She was involved for many years in Friends in Sharing Help (FISH), an organization in Scottsdale that provided meals to families in need, eventually serving as its president. She was always active in her church and desired to show the love of Christ to all those around her. After her husband retired, they divided their time between Arizona and Guilford, NY. Ramona was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Bynum Clay "Curly" Moretz; her sister, Lois Rowena Shaw; and her stepson, Gary Dean Moretz. She is survived by her daughters Rene Nicole Lin of Lynchburg, VA, and Jacqueline Michelle Pearson of Scottsdale, AZ; her stepson, Jerry "Keith" Moretz of Tampa, FL; three grandchildren, Brianne Nicole Pearson, Shoshana Rose Radka (Erik), and Benjamin Clay Lin; and her two nephews, Rev. Raymond Shaw of Honeoye, NY, and Maurice Shaw of Richmond, VA, and their families. All of Ramonas beloved family and friends meant the world to her and she spent countless hours showering them with her faithful love and diligent prayers. She will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know her. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Emory United Methodist Church, 89 E. Main Street, Hancock, NY, at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 11, 2017. Interment to follow at Riverview Cemetery, Hancock.
