Dorothy M. (McDermott) Roney, of Lake Como, PA, passed away at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center on August 27, 2014 at the age of 93. She was born on January 15, 1921 in Pleasant Mount, PA, the last surviving child of eight, to Andrew and Lillian (Regan) McDermott. On September 17, 1938, she married Merle R. Roney. After 69 years of marriage, he predeceased her in 2007. Dorothy was also predeceased by a son, Howard (Bob) Roney in 1992, a daughter, Susan Brooker in 2011, and a grandson, Randy Brooker in 1998.Surviving are 2 daughters and 2 sons-in-law, Bertha Schoonmaker (Ron) and Shirley Bennett (Lloyd), 2 sons and 1 daughter-in-law, William (Bill) Roney, and Barry Roney (Emma), 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, Lucille (Roney) Inman and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was a homemaker and, in our eyes and hearts, the greatest cook, baker, nurse, doctor, and teacher there ever was. The family wishes to thank Ellen Memorial Health Care Center for the care and friendship by employees and staff that was extended during the past seven years. There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 1PM in Lake Como Cemetery, Lake Como, PA. Rev.
