Obituary

Edward John Adamski, son of Bronislaw and Anna Mary (Lewonski)Adamski, was born June 22nd, 1924, in Naugatuck, Connecticut and died atWestview Acres in Leon, Iowa, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at age 92.Edward was a Merchant Marine for about a year before enlisting intothe United States Army in 1942. While in the Merchant Marines he survivedone torpedo attack off of Cape Hatteras. He was assigned to the MilitaryPolice Corps, sent to England, and entered Normandy four days after D-day.He joined the 84th Infantry Division as a medical aidman and served as amedic throughout the World War II campaigns until he met the Russians at theElbe. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1945. He returned tothe sea, re-enlisted in 1946, this time for the Artillery, which sent him toGermany. His next Army training was in the physical therapy department atWalter Reed Hospital in Washington D.C. That was followed by a year at theatomic test sight at Eniwetok in Special Services. He was also in SpecialServices in Japan and Korea. In 1954, he went to Fort Carson, Colorado,where he specialized in youth work until 1961, until he was sent to Berlin,Germany. While in Berlin Ed was part of the Armys Honor Guard forPresident John F. Kennedy. Ed was awarded the Bronze Star and many othercommendations and citations in his Army career.After retiring from the Army, Ed worked in the insurance businessin Colorado Springs, Colorado. Then in 1965, he moved to Connecticut andfound work at Bard-Parker, a medical instrument manufacturer. He started asa machine operator and worked his way up to being a Line Forman. In 1972,he moved to Deposit, New York to work at the new Bard-Parker plant inHancock, New York. He worked a total of 21 years at Bard-Parker until thisretirement. He spent the last three years of his life living in Leon, Iowa.He is survived by three sons, Edward John Adamski, Jr., AnthonyPaul Adamski and wife, Heidi, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and John DavidAdamski of Lamoni, Iowa; grandchildren, Elizabeth Anne Adamski, Pfc. JamesAnthony Adamski, and Josef Joshua Adamski; step-children, Allen Geer, GaryGeer, and Michael Geer; and other relatives and friends.Edward was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lela MaeAdamski and second wife, Patricia Arlene Campbel; and his brothers andsisters, Mary Cecilla Adamski Penikas, Anthony John Adamski, William B.Adamski, Francis Thomas Adamski, Stella Adamski, Victoria AdamskiAelncynowicz, Joseph Paul Adamski, Florence Teresa Leary, and Emily W. Adamski.Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 form 10AM-12PM at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Interment will be in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock.
