Edward D. Gately, 88, of Starlight, PA, died on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA, after a short illness. He was born on June 8, 1930 in Starlight, PA, the son of Arthur E. and Gertrude (Allen) Gately. Ed was a proud US Army Veteran. He married Elsie Burrows on August 31, 1963 in Lake Como, PA, and she predeceased him on July 20, 2012. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and never stopped working. Ed was a handyman and could do just about anything. Surviving are his dear great nephew, Jacob Ferris, dear niece, Romona Burrows and significant other, Mike Ferris, 1 brother, Thomas Gately, Susquehanna, PA, 4 sisters, Edna and husband Edwin Allen, Starlight, PA, Agnes Whitney, Starlight, PA, Marion and husband Anthony Rutkowski, Beeville, TX, and Clara Cole, Conklin, NY, and many nieces and nephews. Ed was predeceased by his brother, Paul, of Starlight, PA. Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 22, 2018 from 11AM-1PM followed by a funeral service at 1PM, all to be held at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Interment will follow in Shehawken Cemetery, Shehawken, PA.
