The Legend of the Rock: Father, Brother, Son, Friend & Mayor of Pine Mill Edward J. "Rock" Wood, 62, lifelong resident of Equinunk, PA, died on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY, after a short illness. He was born on January 20, 1959 in Equinunk, PA, the son of Marcelle and Betty (Hathaway) Wood. Rock was a well known and liked man in Northern Wayne County who wore many hats throughout his life. He graduated from Hancock Central School and then served 11 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was the President of the Equinunk Sportsmans Association, a member of the BCA Hunting Club, a horseshoe team member at The View, a member of the Pool League at The View, Kates Float Committee Co-President, Pine Mill Community Hall Member, Pine Mill Cemetery Coordinator, Manchester Township Sewer Plant Technician, Hancock Herald Journalist, Original Member of the "Chain Gang", Great American Coach of Sports on all levels, Certified Mixologist at the Equinunk Inn for 13 years, Legendary Hunter, Master Carpenter, Substitute College Professor, Master Botanist and Community Renowned Minister. Ed was currently working for Reflection Lakes Property Owners Assn for the last 20+ years. Ed was a kind hearted man and a fixture in the Equinunk Community. To know Ed was to love Ed. He never failed to miss any community or social event and always had a smile on his face, ready to greet everyone with a hug and a kiss. He was a true friend that will be sorely missed in the days to come. Rock was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and loved his Genesee. Surviving are 2 children, Christopher Wood and Kimberly (Emily) Wood; mother, Betty Wood; 6 brothers and 1 sister: Marcelle (Patricia) Wood Jr, William (Sue) Macey, Thomas (Kathy) Wood, Mary (Thomas) Courage, John (Lori) Wood, Joseph Wood, Jack (Michelle) Wood; 7 nieces: Ashley Jarvis, Cathy Pisaneschi, Robin Knabe, Heather Courage, Amber Chambless, Karen Moorehead, Dawn Macey; 9 nephews: Daniel Wood, James Wood, Richard Wood, William Macey Jr, Alan Macey, David Macey, Brian Wood, Matthew Wood, Craig Macey; and the mother of his children, Lorijo Wood. Ed was predeceased by his father, Marcelle Wood; brothers, Steve Macey and Richard Wood; and nephew, Eric Wood. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022 from 11AM-2PM at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Please wear purple to honor Rock. Interment will be held in Pine Mill Cemetery in the spring and a Celebration of Life, in true Rock style, will also be held in the spring. ***Due to the uptick in Covid-19 cases, please respectfully adhere to mask guidelines and when paying your lasts respects, enter and exit the funeral home in a timely manner.*** In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Rocks memory to the Hancock Community Education Foundation, P.O.
