Elbert G. (Sonny) Allen Sr., 82 of Starlight, PA died on Friday, May 20th, 2016 at Forest City Rehab after a short illness. He was born on February 7, 1934 in Starlight PA, the son of Chester and Isabelle (Stein) Allen. Sonny was formerly married to Ellen Dailey. He was predeceased by Linda Bush Allen.Surviving are his wife June, 6 children, Gregory (Theresa), Andrew, Jeffery (Patti), Sarah, Kevin (Jodi), and Elbert Jr, 4 step-children, Eric and Kirk Schmitz, and T. J. & Greg Gately, 11 grandchildren, Gregory Jr., & Joseph Allen, James and Kaiya Allen, Megan Galgoci , Molly Allen, Koren Sahanas, James & Jacob Tepley, Jade Mason, and Jaime Allen, and 4 great-grandchildren, Tyler, MaKenzie, SJ, and Zoie.Sonny was a soft spoken and quiet man who was very active in life. In his earlier years he was a farmer and truck driver, hauling logs, stone, sawdust, and milk. He was a Veteran of the US Army and served in the Nat'l Guard. He worked for PennDot and was a laborer & supervisor for Scott Township. Sonny was a past member of the Northern Wayne Fire & Ambulance, a past president of the Wayne County Democratic Club, and a volunteer for the Lake Como food pantry. He was always willing to help others in need.Calling hours will be held on Monday, May 23rd from 6 to 8 pm at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel/Hancock. A funeral will be held on Tuesday May 24th at 1 pm also at the funeral chapel with Pastor David Norton officiating.
