Elizabeth M. Van Tyle, 93, of Hancock, died on Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale, PA. She was born on April 23, 1920 in Livingston Manor, the daughter of Albert and Pearl (Decker) Gross. Betty married Clifford Van Tyle on April 4, 1943 in Hancock and he predeceased her on July 30, 1980. She was a lifelong member of the Emory United Methodist Church in Hancock where she taught Sunday School for 35 years. Betty also worked in the Hancock Central School Cafeteria for 30 years.Surviving are 2 sons, James and wife Cynthia, and Robert and wife Angie, 8 grandchildren, Scott, Eric and wife Sara, and their 3 children, Trent, Reaghan, and Finn, Tim and wife Doris Bronson, Tom and wife Joyce Bronson, Dan and wife Melissa Bronson, Samantha and husband Patrick Doerr, Kathy and husband Dean Matthews, and Clifford Van Tyle, and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by extended family, John, Jamie, and Lynette Schoonmaker, and Lisa Mead. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 from 1-2PM with a service following at 2PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Interment will follow in the Riverview Cemetery, Hancock. Memorial donations can be made in Betty's memory to the Hancock Rescue Squad.
