Ella W. Hempstead, 88, of Lakewood, PA, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Wayne Memorial Hospital, Honesdale, PA. She was born on April 15, 1928 in Starlight, PA, the daughter of William and Verla (Dix) Williams.Ella married Everett Hempstead on May 30, 1948 in Starrucca, PA. She lived her life as a farm wife and was a loving mother and grandmother. Ella was a member of the Lake Como United Methodist Church, where she was a United Methodist Woman and a past Sunday School Teacher. She was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge #497 and she enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Surviving are her husband, Everett, their 5 children, Brenda and husband Donald Mootz, Cynthia and husband Steve Brocka, Tina and husband James Phillips, Audrey McIntosh, and Everett Tracy and wife Tammy Hempstead, 10 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 sister, Lois Sanford, and many nieces and nephews. Ella was predeceased by 2 brothers, Robert and Harland Williams, and 2 sisters, Jean Allen and Thelma Carpenter. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 1, 2016 at 2PM at the Lake Como United Methodist Church, Lake Como, PA. Interment will follow in Lake Como Cemetery.
