Esther Carson, 99, passed away in her home March 13, 2015. She was predeceased by her husband of 73 years, James 'Kit' Carson, who passed away exactly 14 weeks earlier.Esther was a resident of Harvard, NY, since 1987. She was raised in Casper, WY, but lived an adventurous life, traveling with Kit as a Navy wife, in ports foreign and domestic, including Pearl Harbor, HI, where they lived in a small bungalow. This was their residence during the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, which was the greatest adventure of her life. Esther and Kit walked the island, hand in hand, enjoying dances and ten-cent beer.Esther enjoyed many hobbies, including knitting, embroidery, gardening, cooking, painting beautiful landscapes and walking. When her vision failed she relied on audio books and 'read' with great appetite.Esther is survived by two daughters, Carmela Croteau and Candyce Ricco, both residents of Harvard. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Emily Ricco Norton (Warren), Amanda Ailworth Grillo and Priscilla Ricco Azevedo (Steve), Tony Glad (Tammy) and Tina Glad Bowidowicz (David) and nine great-grandchildren.Esther and Kit were both grateful to be able to spend their final chapter at home and under the care of their daughters and granddaughter, Emily. It couldn't have been done without the professional care and assistance of Catskill Area Hospice.Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.Arrangements by Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
