Everett F. Hempstead, 90, of Lake Como, PA, died on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at Ellen Memorial Health Care Center, Honesdale, PA. He was born on October 8, 1926 in Lake Como, the son of Leonard and Mabel (Owens) Hempstead. Everett married Ella Williams on May 30, 1948 in Starrucca, PA, and after over 67 years of marriage, she predeceased him on April 27, 2016.Everett was a member of the Lake Como United Methodist Church since March 29, 1953. He was also a past member of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Lake Como, PA, and Tomar Hunting Club, Hancock, NY. Everett enjoyed hunting and fishing and was inducted into the PA Voter Hall of Fame in 2010 for voting for over 50 years. Surviving are 5 children, Brenda and husband Donald Mootz, Cynthia and husband Steve Brocka, Tina and husband James Phillips, Audrey McIntosh, and Everett Tracy and wife Tammy Hempstead, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren. Everett is also survived by a sister, Bernice and husband Emory Doyle, sister in law, Eleanor Hempstead, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by 3 brothers, Willard, Gerow, and Earl. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2016 at 11AM at the Lake Como United Methodist Church, Lake Como, PA. Burial will follow in Lake Como Cemetery.
