Florence "Flo" Possemato Vitale walked into the arms of her Lord on June 13, 2024, 23 days before her 100th birthday.
She was born on July 6, 1924 to T. Elizabeth (DeSerio) and Rocco Possemato in Cadosia, NY.
On April 21, 1946 she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Rocco J. Vitale, Sr. Together they had four children: Florence "Flo" Valley (Karl); Rocco Vitale, Jr; Katherine Schoch (Paul); Barbara Christian (William); Ten Grandchildren Teresa Vitale; Rachelle Vitale; Brian Valley; Daryl Valley (Jennifer); Joseph Christian (Jodi); Rocco Christian (Mel); Lanie Christian; Sarah Nero (Nate); Shyla Carlson; Kasie Rae Vitale Johnson (Chris). Eight great Grandchildren: McKenzie and Myla Carlson, Hailey Christian, Hazel and Gunnar Christian, Issac and Silas Nero, and Sylvie Wignal. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and sister in laws Anne Vitale Arnoldine and Helen Jones Possemato.
She was predeceased by her husband, parents and siblings Irene Vitale, Ralph Possemato, Patsy Possemato, Scott Possemato, and Frank Possemato, Sr.
Flo was loved by everyone who knew her and she and Rocky opened their home to many family and friend celebrations. She was a wonderful wife, daughter, mom, Grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend. A faithful member of St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America, and St. Paul's Parish Council for many years. She was instrumental in helping the local food bank "Loaves and Fishes" getting established by the Bread of Life Prayer Group. Also the "silent" manager of the County Bake Shop and Restaurant and the Hancock Garden Club. Always generous and helpful to anyone in need. Loved her family and her home. Always made the holidays special. She will be missed by many.
Special thanks to her at home caregivers and the staff at the Roscoe Nursing and Rehab Center. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to St. Paul the Apostle Church, 346 W. Main St., Hancock, NY, 13783; Hancock Community Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry, 316 West Main St., Hancock, NY 13783; Town of Hancock Ambulance, P.O. Box 733, Hancock, NY 13783.
Mass will be Saturday, June 22, 2024 at 9:30am at her church with visitation Friday, June 21, 2024, from 2-4 and 6-8 at Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock, NY. Interment will follow the mass at St. Paul's Cemetery. Lunch will follow for family and friends at the Father Rausch Hall.
