Frances M. Smith, 83, of Nineveh, NY, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2016.Fran was retired from Becton Dickinson, Hancock, NY. She loved books, birds, and animals and she was extremely devoted to her family. Fran was an avid hunter and even won the Big Buck Prize in Hancock, several years ago, for her 18 pointer. Surviving are her loving partner of 47 years, Ronald Sanford, loving daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Smith and Robert Rushforth, granddaughter, Julie Martin, great granddaughter, Riley Martin, 1 brother, Leonard (Dena) Bennett, 1 sister, Mary Ellen (Jim) Beardsley, sister in law, Caroline (Joe) Emmerson, brother in law, Gordon Beardsley, several nieces and nephews, who lovingly referred to her as "Nan Nan", Kathi, Mindy, Jenny, Paul, Shane, and Darrin, several great nieces and nephews, Kira, Kelsey, Brittni, Cassie, Haley, Taylor, Maddison, Sarah, Kevin, Brian, Reggie, Dakota, Kyle, Payton, Logan, Gavin, Hunter, and Blaine, and 4 great great nephews, Kevin, Caleb, Aidan, and Matthew. Fran is also survived by special friends, Dee Dee DeSerio, Mabel and Don Ronk, and Dawn and Leon Thomas. She was predeceased by her parents, Paul and Nellie Bennett. Per Fran's request, there will just be a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Fran's memory to your local library or charity of your choice.
