Franklin R. "John" Fish, 96, of Hancock, NY, died suddenly on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Upstate University Hospital, Syracuse, NY. He was born on December 21, 1927 in Middletown, NY, the son of Franklin R. Sr. and Alice (Miller) Fish.
John graduated from Hancock Central School in 1945. He was a US Navy Veteran, serving from 1945-1946. John worked on the O&W Railroad and the Erie Railroad but spent most of his working years in the tax field, retiring from the Monticello Raceway as a para mutual tax examiner. John was a faithful member of the Grand Lodge of the State of New York Masonic Lodge of F & AM for over 50 years. He enjoyed collecting and dealing rare US coins and attended many coin shows over the years. John also enjoyed bowling, golfing, gardening, fly fishing, fly tying, and spending time with his pets.
John married Evelyn Furman on April 28, 1977 and she predeceased him on March 8, 2021.
Surviving are his stepdaughter, Vicky Kravetsky (Edward); 2 sons, John and James Fish; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
John's wishes were for cremation and no services. He will be buried with Evelyn in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock.
