Obituary

Frederic T. Benson, beloved son, brother, and uncle died peacefully, in his sleep, on December 7, 2014 at the age of 48.He was born on December 28, 1965 to Richard J. and Edythe M. Benson at home in Hancock, NY. Fred attended Hancock Central School graduating with the Class of 1984. After graduation, he entered the United States Air Force attending basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. He then went to Altus AFB in Oklahoma before transferring to Okinawa, Japan. While on his second tour, he served in Desert Storm, stationed in Kuwait. On his return to the United States, Fred began a career in the construction field working as a foreman with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. His current position has been with the E.E. Cruz Company whose most notable project being the World Trade Center Memorial. Currently, he was working at the Second Avenue Subway in New York City. Fred is survived by his mother, Edythe M. Benson, Hancock, and 4 doting sisters, Claire Gotthardt, Hancock, NY, Kath (Bill) Kelly, Endicott, NY, Liz Hayes, Rome, NY, and Aileen (Bob) Muller, Castleton, NY. Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Dan, Jared, Sarah, Rachel, Stephanie, Rebecca, Kristina, Reid, Anne, and Samantha, and great nieces and nephews, Trinity, Taylor, Peyton, and Evan. Fred was predeceased by his father, Richard in 1982, and brother in law, William Gotthardt in 2013.Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2014 from 1-5PM with a memorial service during that time. Memorial donations can be made to a charity of one's choice.Loving you always Freddie.
