Obituary

Garry Cahill, 72, a longtime resident of Walton, New York, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2026, following a long illness. He was born in Walton, New York, and graduated from Hancock Central School in 1972.

Garry retired from Frontier Communications in 2017 after 42 years of dedicated service. A devoted New York Yankees and New York Giants fan, he also had a lifelong love of the outdoors. He especially enjoyed hunting season spent with family and friends at the Woodmansee Hunting Camp in Preston Park, PA, where many lasting memories and friendships were made.

Above all, Garry was devoted to his family. He shared 48 years of marriage with his wife, Susan, whom he married on April 8, 1978. She was not only his partner but his best friend. Together they built a life centered on love, family, and friendship. Whether taking rides together, spending time with their children and grandchildren, or simply enjoying each other's company, Garry and Susan cherished their time together.

In retirement, Garry enjoyed life's simple pleasures with family, visits with friends, and rides with his beloved dog, Angus. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, sense of humor, and unwavering dedication to those he loved.

Garry is survived by his wife of 48 years, Susan Cahill (Parsons); George Crawford of Hancock, NY, who played a significant role in his life; his children, Greg (Janie) Cahill of Cochran, GA, and Erica Cahill (Jon MacGibbon) of Walton, NY; his brother, Doug Gorton (Jill); his sisters, Georgene Smith and Teresa Davis; and his cherished grandchildren, Garrett Cahill, Kaylee Cahill, and Parker MacGibbon.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Madaleen Gorton, in 2016.

Garry's greatest joy came from the time he spent with family, whether gathered around the table at deer camp, cheering on the Yankees and Giants, or sharing everyday moments with Susan and those he loved most. His presence will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

To honor Garry’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral.

The family invites relatives and friends to join them for a Celebration of Life at the Cahill family home in Walton, New York, on Thursday, June 25, 2026, beginning at 3:00 p.m., to share memories, stories, and celebrate Garry's life.
