Gary P. Warner, 68, died of natural causes on November 11, 2023 at home in Hancock, NY. Born on May 26, 1955, in Washington, D.C., Gary was the son of Phil L. Warner, an officer and special agent with the Central Intelligence Agency, and Betty (Stonson) Warner, a Pentagon administrative assistant, both of whom preceded him in death.
Gary is survived by his former wife of 24 years, Eileen O'Sullivan, and their three children: Janice (John) Ward of Scott Township, PA; Rachael (Doug) Warner-Conklin of Old Forge, PA; and Gary Warner II of South Abington, PA. He is also survived by two brothers: Mark (Lorraine) Warner of Rochester, NY and Bruce (Celeste) Warner of North Port, FL.
Gary spent the first decade of his life in Falls Church, VA, before moving to Hancock, NY with his family. He graduated from Hancock Central School in 1974, where he excelled academically and athletically. Gary played varsity baseball for HCS and was a member of the Central Division, Susquenango League, and Section IV Class B-C-D Championship Teams in 1973. He continued his academics at SUNY Oneonta, obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with a concentration in chemistry. Gary was a substitute teacher in Southern Tier school districts for many years.
Gary had many hobbies and interests. He loved music and collecting memorabilia from his favorite bands, which included Paul Revere and the Raiders, and The Turtles. He enjoyed watching baseball and researched statistics of the game. He participated in various sports, two of his favorites were golfing and bowling.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude to postal carrier Scott MacDonald of Hancock, NY for going above and beyond to show kindness and compassion to Gary.
A celebration of life will be held at 65 Kilrow St. Great Bend PA 18821, on December 9th from 2pm-5pm.
