George B. Schaefer, 76, of East Branch, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 18, 2014 at Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, after a short illness. He was born on December 26, 1937 in Hancock, NY, the son of Henry and Ethel (Baxter) Schaefer. George was a member of the East Branch Community Church in East Branch, NY. He was an animal lover and adored his two cats. George was loved by his family and many friends. He was a helpful and caring man. Surviving are 1 sister, Marion Tweedie Ferrante, 2 nieces, Deborah Tweedie, and Carolyn and husband Ronald Lewis, 1 great niece, Alicia and husband Ryan Fifield, and 1 great nephew, Scott Lewis. George was predeceased by a brother, Paul. There will be 1 hour for visitation on Saturday, September 20, 2014 from 1-2PM with a service following at 2 all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
