April 4, 1945 – June 7, 2025
Gertrude M. "Trudy" (Black) Trask passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2025 at Delaware Valley Hospital.
Trudy was born to parents Albert Black and Marie (Ewain) Miller on April 4, 1945 in Hancock, NY. She married Leon M. Trask on August 11, 1962 in Fosterdale, NY and went as a bride to live in Readburn Rd., Walton at his family farm.
She retired from Hancock Central School February 8, 2016 after years of transporting students, first as a private contractor and then as a school bus driver. Trudy truly loved and enjoyed young people always having a smile, kind word and treat for them every day.
Surviving are three children: Leon Emerson and Melissa Trask of White Sulphur Springs; Ann and Scott Young of Hancock; and Clara Trask of Walton; six grandchildren: Crystal Reed of Downsville, Austin Trask of Hancock, Ryan and Owen Trask of White Sulphur Springs, and Tyler and Kelsey Young of Hancock; four brothers: Fred and Betty Black of Cassville, MO; Bert and Ann Black of Little Rock, AR; Gary and Toni Black of Clovis, CA; and Jerry Black of Little Rock, AR; a sister: Doris and Sid Royce of Ellenton, FL; a sister-in-law: Linda Trask of New Milford, PA; and many nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. Trudy was predeceased by her husband Leon; two sons, Walter F (Rick) Trask and David A. Trask; sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis (Trask) and Heinz Schiippel.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Delaware Valley Hospital and Delhi Rehab and Nursing Center for their care of Trudy.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2025 from 1PM-3PM with a funeral service following at 3PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. Burial will be at a later date in the Walton Cemetery, Walton, NY.
Donations may be made in Trudy's memory to the Hancock Community Education Foundation, P.O. Box 819, Hancock, NY 13783.
