Grant Leslie Teeple, 81, of Equinunk, stepped into the presence of his Lord and the company of his wife Barbara on Sunday evening, March 13, 2016, from Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale. He had been a resident at Ellen Memorial Health Center since February 2, 2016. Born in the farmhouse at Faymont Farm in Equinunk on April 9, 1934, he was the son of Virgil and Beatrice (Caffrey) Teeple. He gained his early education at the Braman and South Branch schools and attended high school at Hancock Central, graduating with the class of 1951. At HCS, Grant met Barbara Jeanne Quick, whom he married on April 4, 1953. They were married almost 61 years at the time of Barbara's Homegoing on February 8, 2014.Grant operated Faymont Farm with his father Virgil, and later with son Dale and with grandsons, William and Justin. He was a skilled operator of machinery and able to fix what needed fixing. Grant served as a Sunday School teacher and as a member of the Deacon Board at Calvary Baptist Church in Cadosia, NY, where he attended faithfully for more than sixty years. He also served as President of the Wayne County Sub-District of Dairylea Cooperative from 1960 to 1980, and as an Agway store committee member. He was the groundskeeper for the farm and could be seen regularly on his lawn tractor which he drove until the summer of 2015. He enjoyed the family dinners, reading his Bible and his book of poetry, RFD TV, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and visiting with neighbors and friends. Grant is survived by his son, Dale (Ella), and daughter Cynthia Rowe of Equinunk, five grandchildren: Melissa (Mitchell) Houghtaling, Liberty, NY; Justin Rowe, Equinunk; Theresa and Elizabeth Teeple, Greer, South Carolina; and William Teeple, Williamsport, Pa.; four great-grandchildren: Brianna, Caitlyn, Ashley, and Emily Houghtaling, Liberty, NY; his sister, Sylvia Gutowski, Endicott, NY; nieces, nephews, and cousins.Visiting hours will be on Friday, March 18, 2016 from 7-9PM at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel in Hancock, NY. The funeral service will be on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 1 pm., conducted by Pastor David Norton and Pastor David Titus.
