Gunnar Frank Cox, 78, of Hancock, NY, died on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at home after an illness. He was born on February 9, 1947 in Bad Neuhiem, Germany, the son of Charles and Ilona Cox.

Gunnar married Sharon Conkling Procak on April 10, 2018.

Gunnar was a US Armed Forces Veteran, serving in the Army, Marine Corps, and the Army Reserves. He enjoyed everything outdoors including 4 wheeling, traveling, and the Adirondacks. He loved riding his motorcycle and he especially loved Hancock and the surrounding areas where he and his wife, Sharon, rode around in their Jeep discovering backroads and waterfalls. Gunnar was a great carpenter and spent some of his free time woodworking.

Surviving are his wife, Sharon; 2 daughters, Katrina Suzanne (Sean) Farrell and Patricia Ann Gardner; and 4 grandchildren: Micaela Bell, Sydney Harner, Logan Gardner, and Peyton Gardner. Gunnar loved Sharon's children and grand children like his own. He was especially fond of her son, Richard Procak Jr. and grandson, Jimmy Jr., but he loved them all: Michael Procak Sr., James Procak Sr., Brenda Procak, Gaebel Procak, and Barbara Procak; 11 step grandchildren; 6 step great grandchildren; 4 siblings: Corrie Sauseris, Donna Belvin, Charles Cox, and Christopher Cox; and several nieces and nephews. Gunnar was predeceased by his daughter, Michelle Lee Cox.

Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of Gunnar's family.
