Harold S. Karcher, 85, of Starlight, PA, died on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY. He was born on August 10, 1928 in Hale Eddy, NY, the son of Harold O. and Ruth (Shanly) Karcher. Harold married Dawne Foley on August 1, 1952 in Deposit, NY, and she predeceased him on August 31, 1996. Harold was a proud Teamster for over 30 years. He was an avid Syracuse fan and loved visiting Turning Stone Casino. Most of all, he was a huge NASCAR fan. Harold raced stock cars and was 1 of the top 50 drivers at Five Mile Point, Kirkwood, NY. Surviving are 2 daughters, Kamille Karcher and Karla and husband John Hesse, daughter-in-law, Claudia, 4 grandchildren, Kerrie, Katie, Kyle, and Emma, 4 great grandchildren, Taylor, Lane, Noah, and Kaycee, and his best friend, Iva Bowen. He is also survived by 2 brothers, Vaughn and wife Sandra, and Ronald, 1 sister, Ruth Ann Geer, several nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Harold was predeceased by a son, Kris in 2011. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 12-1 with a memorial service following at 1PM all at the Emory United Methodist Church, Hancock, NY. Burial will be later in Balls Eddy Cemetery, Starlight, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Harolds memory to the Emory United Methodist Church, 89 E Main St., Hancock, NY 13783.
