Harold Raymond Stafford, who resided in Scott Township, Wayne County, PA, died on Monday, November 30, 2015, in his barn tending to his beloved animals. Harold was born on June 7 1947 in Deposit, Town of Sanford, NY. His parents were Clyde H. and Loretta E. (Saunders) Stafford. Harold attended school in Deposit, NY, and Mount Upton, NYSome of Harold's jobs and accomplishments were: professional dog groomer, operating Mr. Ken's Grooming in Sidney, NY, for 25 years. During those years, he and friends started the Delaware Humane Society, of which he was an officer. He also did grooming and operated a pet shop in Bainbridge, NY, for a time. Harold worked as a postal clerk at the Preston Park, PA, Post Office for several years. He also worked as a telephone operator at Broome Developmental in Binghamton, NY, for 10 years, until the disease of MS forced him to retire early. During the last several years, he was also at work two days each year, on election days, at Scott Township's polling place as the elected minority inspector. Harold was a self taught gardener and raised beautiful plants. A great joy was raising sheep and dairy goats and showing the dairy goats at the Hartford Fair in Hartford, PA, and at the GDS Fair in Newfoundland, PA. HIs goats won many ribbons. The following are some thoughts and words from Harold's brother, George. Harold bonded with the animals on his goat and sheep farm on Faigle Rd. He could talk to anyone. His vivid imagination would carry anyone on exciting trips. Traveling every road and path and knowing the people who lived on them was his greatest passion. For 12 years, Harold fought the many hardships of MS. The animals gave him purpose and his friends gave him strength. Surviving are a brother, George and sister in law, Polly, Mount Upton, NY, and a brother Fred, Unadilla, NY. He is also survived by his good friend, Edwin Allen, Jr., who resides in Scott Township, PA. Harold was predeceased by special friends, Ken Andrus and Harry Nourijanian. Services for Harold will be held at Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel in Hancock, NY, on Monday, December 7th, 2015. Viewing will be at 11:30AM-1PM with service following at 1PM. Father Christopher Welch will officiate and burial will follow in Shehawken Cemetery, Shehawken, PA.
