Harry W. Sprague, 67, of Hancock, NY, passed away on Thursday, November 27, 2025 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY, after a brief illness. He was born on April 30, 1958 in Walton, NY, the son of Ivan J. and Myra Ann (Card) Sprague.
Harry married Wilma (Buchanan) Chapman on August 13, 1988. She predeceased him on January 1, 2019.
Harry was a dedicated and hardworking man who spent his career at Johnston and Rhodes, where he was respected for his strong work ethic and his willingness to help anyone in need. Known for his kindness and loving spirit, he cherished his wife and family above all else. Harry's deep faith was at the center of his life, and his love for Jesus guided the way he lived each day.
Surviving are his step children: Richard (Barbara) Chapman, Tully, NY, Carl (Joan) Chapman, Hancock, NY, Donald Chapman, Hancock, NY, Leonard Chapman, Hancock, NY, and Marilyn Phillips, Cortland, NY; 7 grandchildren: Jennifer Ledbetter (Chapman), Kari (James) Decker, Kendra Spangenberg, Brandy Chapman, Leonard (Megan) Chapman, Randy Phillips, and Amanda (Andrew) Bosket; 14 grandchildren: Daderik and Kodiak Ledbetter, Declan Chapman, Evan and Jasmine Spangenberg, Ben Decker, Jacob and Sawyer Lobdell, Tyler, Austin (Tiyana), Liam, and Leah Chapman, Shailyn Smith, and Camden Phillips; and 3 great great grandchildren: Camden Phillips, and Riley and Evan Spangenberg. He was a true and genuine Poppy to all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Harry is also survived by brother, Edward Sprague, Walton, NY; sister, Donna Zito, Wisconsin; special sister in law, Beulah Karcher; and many nieces and nephews.
Harry was predeceased by his father and mother, Ivan and Myra Ann; 2 step daughters in law, Donna Chapman and Jessie Ann Chapman; grandson, Gregory Chapman; great granddaughter, Courtney Phillips; and sister in law, Robin Sprague.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at 11AM at the Hale Eddy Community Church, Hale Eddy, NY.
