Herbert W. Buckley "Buck" passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, July 15, after a brief illness. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Pomeroy), children Timothy (Sandra) Buckley of Boulder Creek, CA, Daniel (Tracey) Buckley of Endicott, NY, Chad (Tera) Buckley of Endicott, NY, and Wendy (Lou) Bishop of Kissimmee, Fla. He leaves six grandchildren: Aaron, Madison, Sydney, Alexis, Harrison, and Harley, who brought him more joy than words could express. He is also survived by his brother, Charles (Alice) Buckley of Hancock, NY. He was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Gertrude (Davis) Buckley, and his sister, Geraldine Zablocky.

Herb retired from the New York State Police, as the Director of Forensic Imaging in 2010 after 36 years of service.  He then went on to become Judge in the Village of Hancock. His rich work ethic continued, even after his retirement.

Herb collected Civil War memorabilia, frequently visited Gettysburg, enjoyed his 1957 Ford Fairlane, and he and his wife paid frequent visits to Florida. Most days he had morning coffee with his brother, Charlie, and enjoyed lunch with his regular lunch friends.

He was a past Master of the Deposit Masonic Lodge 396, and he was a Grand Lodge State Officer.

Family will receive guests at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Home in Hancock, NY. Calling hours will be Monday, July 24, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm, and the funeral will be Tuesday, July 25, at 10am with burial at the Riverside Cemetery to follow.
