Hilda G. Smales, 92, of Endicott, NY, formerly of East Branch, NY, died on Friday, June 16, 2023 at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, NY. She was born on June 23, 1930 in Harvard, NY, the daughter of Floyd and Ina (Miner) Valentine.

Hilda loved flowers and gardening. She was proud of her roots in the East Branch/Harvard area. She enjoyed attending the East Branch Field Days every year. Hilda lived a simple life and was willing to help anyone who needed it. She loved her family and enjoyed time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are 5 children: Gary (Cindy) Lewis, Paul (Lori) Lewis, Patricia (Donald) Burton, Jean (David) Greenier, and Tom Lewis; 8 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren. Hilda is also survived by 3 siblings: Floyd Valentine, Robert Valentine, and Marie Kolb; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Fred Smales; son, Carl Lewis; and 4 brothers: Richard, James, Earl, and Glenn Valentine.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, June 23, 2023 at 10AM in Harvard Cemetery, Harvard, NY.
