Howard C. Whitmore, of Winterdale, PA, passed away suddenly at Wilson Hospital on Tuesday, June 16th, 2026. He was 84.

Born in Scott Center, PA, to Floyd and Eliza (Hallstead) Whitmore. Howard was a logger for many years until he retired and started farming.

Howard married the love of his life, Phyllis Witzenberger, in May of 1983. They had two great kids together, Chad Whitmore and Sara Delamarter. He also had two other children, Rona Rich and Charles Whitmore.

Howard loved and cherished his four granddaughters: Lindsey, Hannah, Charlotte, and Kourtney Delamarter. Those girls were his everything. He also had two other grandchildren, Zach Rich and Zoey Rich.

Howard was born into a big family. Surviving are a sister, Marie Rowe, who he loved so much; brothers, Edward (Rosie) Whitmore, Richard Whitmore, Jack (Michelle) Whitmore, and Donald (Charlene) Whitmore. He was predeceased by sisters: Ruth Rowe, Helen Hillman, Velma Baldwin, Jenny Dodge, Vickie Bullis, Lois Drake, and Nellie Mead; brothers: John, David, and Raymond Whitmore. He was also predeceased by his lovely wife, Phyllis, a son in law, Raymond Delamarter; and his parents. He is also survived by a brother in law, Herbie Witzenberger, and many nieces and nephews.

Howard was loved by so many people and was a wonderful man.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at 11AM in Balls Eddy Cemetery, Winterdale, PA.
