James A. D'Elia, 60, of Hancock, died unexpectedly on July 27, 2013 at Wilson Medical Center, Johnson City, NY. He was born on April 14, 1953 in Hackensack, NJ, the son of John and Dorothy (DeYoung) D'Elia. Jim married Laura Philpott on February 19, 1971 in NJ. His family and his friends were his life. Jim loved the Cowboys and NASCAR. Surviving are his wife, Laura, 6 children, Jackie and husband Joe Petriella, Michael, Anthony and wife Debbie, John and wife Rachel, Joe and wife Sara, and Jimmy Jr., and girlfriend Adrienne Caramore, 14 grandchildren, Joey, AJ, Mariah, Nicky, Bailey, Kinz, Jocelyn, Nicki, Gabe, Bella, Joey, John Jr., Jake, and Jayden. Jim is also survived by 1 brother, John, and predeceased by a sister, Barbara. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at 10:30AM at St. Paul the Apostle Church, Hancock. Burial will follow in St. Paul's Cemetery, Hancock. Memorial donations can be made in Jim's memory to the Hancock Rescue Squad.
