James Elmer Shofkom, 83, of Apex, Hancock, NY, died at Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at home. He was born on April 11, 1933 in Lanesboro, PA, the son of Clarence and Theresa (Hallstead) Shofkom. Elmer married June Laraway on February 19, 1955 in Binghamton, NY. He was a truck driver for many years. His family was the most important thing in his life. Surviving are his wife, June, 3 children, Mark and wife Deborah, James and wife Alison, and Thomas, 4 grandchildren, Shawna, Jennifer, Michael, and Brian, and 3 great grandchildren, Valerie, Nolan, and Piper. He is also survived by 3 sisters, Sadie Williams, Janet Grace, and Bonnie Shofkom, 1 brother, Gary Shofkom, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Elmer was predeceased by 6 siblings, Valeda, Irene, Elizabeth, Paul, Delbert, and Beatrice. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 4-6PM at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 27, 2016, at 11AM, also at the funeral chapel, with Don Crossman officiating. Interment will follow in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock.
