James Sperling, 88, of East Branch, NY, passed on to his eternal home on October 13, 2021. He was born on March 6, 1933, in Margaretville, NY, the son of Winfield and Thelma Sperling. He served in the Army from 1953-1955 as a military policeman, and earned the rank of corporal. Upon returning home, he worked for the Board of Water Supply police, and then worked as a heavy equipment operator out of the Operating Engineers Local 825 until retiring in 1995. Jim was all about family..a loyal and devoted husband, father and grandad. His best days were spent at home, on his tractor, or sitting in his recliner with family visiting. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were the joy of his life, and he was especially thankful that his last months were spent at home surrounded by family and friendsand so much love. He was predeceased in 2012 by his loving wife Ruth of 54 years, and in 2009 by his grandson James. He is survived by three children: Bob (Lisa) Cicio, Janice (Bill) Hall, Patricia (Brian) Fisher; eight grandchildren: Nathanael and Justin Cicio, Jenna Hall, Desiree Bass, Sheree (Michael) Noviello, Diona Bass, Jonathan (Kara) Bass, and Ethan Bass; and 5 great grandchildren: John Michael, Angelina and Mila Noviello, Delilah Best, Chase Abelard, with a 6th great grandchild due in December. He is also survived by his brother Bob (Kay) Sperling, and two step siblings: Allen Brannen, and Janet Pomeroy; and was predeceased by two step siblings: Anne Walczyk, and Beverly Burdick. With our sincere appreciation and deepest gratitude we would like to thank the three very special caregivers who went above and beyond in making it possible for him to stay at home through the selfless and exceptional care they provided: Rachael Oralls, Alana Henderson, and Alexa Rowlands.
