Cormack
September 9, 1950 – August 23, 2025
John P. Cormack passed away on August 23, 2025, at home, in the comfort of his loving wife, Kathy and daughter, Beth.
John was a hard working man and proud brother of Local 9 for 56 years. John worked as a Pipefitter for 38 years and later in his career he traveled the country teaching OSHA/ HAZWOPER safety courses. He also proudly co-develop and taught an Orbital Welding course.
John was born in Princeton, NJ on September 9, 1950. He grew up in Plainsboro and lived in NJ until he moved to Hancock, NY in 2008.
John was an avid sportsman and belonged to Oneonta Sportsman Club. He was an enthusiastic fly fisherman and hunter and enjoyed shooting at the club with his brother, Richard. As a younger man, John loved to ice skate, play hockey and could be found driving the Zamboni at the local ice rink.
John was a self taught musician and loved to play his collection of guitars. He loved music, from Country to Pop and everything in between. He enjoyed attending concerts at Bethel Woods and many other venues throughout the years.
John loved to watch videos of planes and trains and loved to share his knowledge on the topic. He also enjoyed watching the Rangers, Red Sox and 49ers.
John loved to chat and made friends everywhere he went. He was well known for his funny one liners and was known to spoil his beloved dogs rotten.
John is survived by his wife Kathleen (Bushman) Cormack, his daughter Elizabeth Valentino, son in-law Ray Valentino, grandchildren Raymond and Ava Valentino, his sister Jean Corliss, sister in-law Jane Cormack, sister in-law Donna (husband Brett) McQuade, brother in-law Tom Bushman, nephew, nieces and cousins.
John was preceded by his parents Jennie and Douglas Cormack, older brother Douglas, younger brother Richard Cormack and brother in-law Les Corliss.
John will be missed dearly and to honor his wishes, services will be private for the immediate family.
