John R. DaBrescia, 70, of Lake Como, PA, died on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Forest City Nursing Home, Forest City, PA. He was born on March 12, 1950 in Binghamton, NY, the son of William and LaVonne (Vance) DaBrescia, known to all as Tony and Betty. He married Kathleen Roney on August 2, 1975 at St. Pauls Church in Hancock, NY. John graduated from Hancock Central School in 1969 and then attended Broome Community College where he earned an Associates Degree. He shortened his college education to work at the family business, DaBrescia Motors, Inc, where he had worked since he was a teenager. He spent his life as the Parts Manager up until its closing in 2011. John enjoyed golfing and was very active in the annual Rock Lake Picnic. He was a religious ed teacher at the Catholic Church in Lake Como and served as the Commissioner of the Lakewood Little League. John enjoyed living on the lake and spending time there with his family along with all of their lake friends. Surviving are his wife, Kate, daughter, Kelly (Cassandra McGraw), granddaughter, Carsyn, 1 sister, Toni (Craig) Sandell, several nieces and nephews, and several brothers and sisters in law. He was predeceased by his parents, Tony and Betty, mother and father in law, Leon and Bernice Roney, sister in law, Marilyn Gantz, and his daughter, Lisa, whom he loved dearly and missed greatly. There will be 1 hour for calling from 10AM-11AM followed by a funeral mass at 11AM on Saturday, August 22, 2020, all to be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, Hancock, NY. Following mass, there will be a luncheon held at Firemen's Park, Hancock. Interment will be at a later date in Riverview Cemetery, Hancock.
