John Michael "Jack" Holland left this earthly ground to be with the Lord on April 25, 2017.He was born in Hancock on June 17, 1950 to John and Lois (Williams) Holland. His Dad predeceased him in 1961.Jack graduated from Susquehanna Community High School in 1968. He joined the Air Force right after graduation and served for four years.He had a long career as a truck driver, first for Lakewood Oil, then for Deckelman's. He retired from Leeward Construction in 2014.Jack was an active member of American Legion Post 209 in Lake Como and a dedicated member of the Lake Como United Methodist Church.Despite his sometimes gruff demeanor, kids were drawn to Jack, sensing his big heart and inner softness. Within a few minutes of entering a room, Jack would have a baby on his lap or be surrounded by a group of children. He never missed an opportunity to make an impact on their lives, however subtle. These children, some of them now young adults, are suffering his loss.Jack loved hunting. He was happy sitting in the silent woods at 5 A.M. At the end of a long day of hunting, he enjoyed the companionship of his fellow hunters and telling and re-telling the stories of the day.Since his retirement, when he wasn't cutting firewood at JC's woodlot, he enjoyed card games with his Legion buddies after coffee hour at the Preston Country Market.He is survived by the love of his life and best friend, Jude Todd (Udo); his son Brian, and fianc Kristie; his daughter Dana and fianc Michael; and his daughter Jackie Fenescey; his five grandchildren, Caitlin, J. D., Dustin, Cameron, and Maggie Rose; and one great-granddaughter, Madelynn.His mother, Lois Sanford; his sister Kathy and husband Jim Woodmansee; his sister Susan and husband Wayne McCormick; his brother Bill and wife Sandy Holland; and his brother Steve and wife Fawn Holland also survive.Jack also leaves behind fourteen loving nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017, from 10AM-12PM with a memorial service following at 12 Noon all at the Lake Como United Methodist Church, Lake Como, PA. Interment will follow in the Lake Como Cemetery, Lake Como, PA.Donations can be made in Jack's memory to American Legion Post 209, P.O.
