John Edward Joyce, 86, of Equinunk PA passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2020 after an illness. He was born on November 11, 1934, in Binghamton, NY, the son of Irving Patrick and Edith (Furman) Joyce.
Jack was a Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1953-1955. He worked as a draftsman and engineer, first at Bendix-Scintilla in Sidney, NY and then as a manager at Singer-Link, Binghamton, NY. He was especially proud of the work his company did for the Apollo space program.
Jack was a founding member of the Equinunk Volunteer Fire Company, a member of the Equinunk Methodist Church and a lifelong Republican. He was an avid reader to the end, his favorite subjects being railroading, Civil War, politics and realistic fiction. Jack was a skilled carpenter who could restore just about any structure to like-new condition. Spanning the years, whether to work or for leisure, Jack loved to drive.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Warfield) to whom he was married for 66 years, his parents, Patrick and Edith Joyce and his two sisters, Kathy Jo Joyce and Laureen Joyce
Jack is survived by two sons, John P. Joyce and wife Judy, Edward K. Joyce and wife Dawn, of Equinunk, PA, one grandson, Lt. Edward (Crystal) Joyce of Ft. Belvoir, Virginia, four granddaughters Victoria (Eric) Joyce-Heinz, Easton, PA, Diana Stoll (Valentino), Raubsville, PA, Emily Joyce, Plymouth, MA, Caroline Joyce, London, UK, six great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Jacks wishes were to be cremated and no services will be held. Memorial contributions can be made to the Equinunk Volunteer Fire Company.
