John Joseph OBrien, 59, of Starlight, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at home on July 27, 2020, he will be missed, remembered, and forever loved.
John graduated from Hancock Central School in 1979 and then followed in the footsteps of his father and grandfather as a 3rd generation member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 825. John started in the apprenticeship program where he advanced from a Heavy Equipment Operator to Lead Engineer and served on the Executive Board during his 40 year career.
John loved his family and is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Audrey (Wright) OBrien and his 2 children, John Joseph ( Joe) and Leeann OBrien and Robert Johnson, 3 brothers and their families, Michael and Linda, Patrick, Bette, and Pat, Terrence Sr., Linda K., Shane, Megan and Terrence Jr, Chelsey and Terrence III ( Tj ), brother in laws, Jon, Nicole, Everly and Hudson Wright, Tim Wright & Christie Baca and many close friends who he loved like his family.
John loved the outdoors and spent all of his free time trapping, fishing and hunting. John and Audrey spent their Winters fishing on their boat the Fishing Irish on Nettles Island in Jensen Beach Fl. He was a member of Ridgerunners Club 99, BCA Hunting Club and the National Trappers Association.
He was predeceased by his parents Patrick and Mary OBrien.
There will be a Mass at St. Paul's Catholic Church 346 West Main Street, Hancock, New York 13783 Friday July 31st at 10:00 am. Unfortunately, Due to COVID restrictions the church will be reserved for the family.

The family will receive friends for a Celebration of Life luncheon at 12:00 Noon at 2631 Hancock Hwy Equinunk, PA 18417 ( Randy Youngs Hunting Camp).
