John "Jack" OLeary, 66, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2021 in his beloved home after a brief illness with his wife, Rosemarie "Rosie" Mulqueen-OLeary, dog, Shannon, and cat, Tara, home with him, as were his wishes.
Jack was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Adelaide "Laddie" Jacobsen and Joseph "Barney" OLeary. Both proceeded him in death along with his sister, Linda OLeary; brother in law, Andrew Andre, and stepmother, Alberta "Minnie" OLeary.
His earlier marriage to Bernadette Mitchell produced a daughter, Devon Nicole OLeary Grande (husband John), and granddaughter, Emma Eileen Grande, with a second granddaughter expected soon. The Mitchell family held a special place in Jacks heart and he was happy to have them close to him in his last days.
Jack is survived by his sister, Kathleen Calabrese; nephews, Paul (Kim), Garrett (Angela), and Richie (Geanine); adopted siblings: George (Darlene) and nephew, Christopher and niece, Kiersten, Frank (Karen), niece, Victoria and nephew, Frank Jr., Peggy (David) Morales, nephew, David Jr., and niece Kristin; sister in law, Nancy OLeary (Scott, predeceased), nephew, Shane and grand nephew, Vito; brother in law, John (Debra) Mulqueen and nephews, Michael (Anna), Ryan, and Connor.
Jack held many jobs but was most proud of his work as a carpenter in the World Trade Center. Louis Alvarez and Tommy Hernandez became his lifelong friends while working there. He was a proud member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Local 157. He built many things over the years and loved sharing his skills, tools, knowledge, and experience with many younger men. What he built, he built to last forever as will our love for Jack- husband, father, grandfather, and friend to so many. May the road rise up to meet you, the wind blow gently on your back, the sun shine brightly upon your face, and may God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Services will be held at a later time at the convenience of Jacks family.
Arrangements by Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.
