Jon A. Brush, 76, of Fishs Eddy, NY, died on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Wilson Medical Center after an illness. He was born on February 4, 1947 in Hancock, NY, the son of Judson and Helen (Mallock) Brush. Jon married Millie Wheeler on July 18, 1986 in Deposit, NY.

Jon served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his service, he worked as a self-employed stone quarryman for several years. Jon was a devoted husband, a caring father, a beloved grandfather, and a proud great-grandfather. Throughout his life, Jon embodied a tireless work ethic and unparalleled strength and resilience.

Jon was also passionate in his love for gambling, including his frequent playing of lottery scratch off tickets, where one time it really paid off! He loved trips to the casino where he would spend his time at the slot and video poker machines. In his younger years, he was known for his ability to play billiards and poker with excellent skill. He loved country western movies and music. Jon would often be found working outside his lovely home, wearing his trademark flannel shirt. While Jon always appeared to be a quiet, stoic man, he loved talking to his family and would be the first to offer a quip or joke in any circumstance, expertly using his wry sense of humor.

Surviving are his wife, Millie; 2 children, Michael Hood and daughter in law, Tami Hood and Lori Hafele; grandchildren: Justin Hood and granddaughter in law, Emma Hood, and great grandson, Jude Hood, Alexander Hood, Aidan Hafele, and Asa Hafele; 1 sister; several nieces and nephews; several brother and sister in laws; and extended family. Jon was predeceased by several siblings.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 11AM-1PM followed by a funeral service at 1PM all at the Henderson-Biedekapp Funeral Chapel, Hancock.  Jon's grandson, Pastor Justin Hood, will officiate.  Burial will follow in Partridge Island Cemetery, Fishs Eddy, NY.
